ABOUT ME

“Literature is a luxury.  Fiction is a necessity.”   G. K. Chesterton

Mark J. Moore is a sitting Judge in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas, having been appointed to the bench last summer. He is a veteran attorney with over 20 years of civil and criminal trial experience. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia for over 12 years, before joining Allstate Insurance Companies as Staff Counsel.

Judge Moore began his writing career as a staff reporter for the New Journal & Guide newspaper in Norfolk, VA. There, he honed his writing skills while covering a variety of issues. During his tenure as a writer, Judge Moore became fascinated by the investigative process of developing a story. This, and his love for crime novels provided the impetus for him to pen, “The People’s Business,” his debut novel released in October 2019.

A native Philadelphian, Judge Moore holds a B.S. Degree in Marketing from Hampton University. He subsequently earned a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law and then a Master of Laws (LLM) in Trial Advocacy from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

Judge Moore is an avid sports fan who loves spending time with his family.  He also enjoys reading, exercising, and playing the piano.  In addition, he is active with his church and with his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc.

He is married with two daughters (and a rescue dog).
